Kristen has appeared on hit television shows, including "One Tree Hill," "Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader?", "The Jay Leno Show" and has performed the national anthem at numerous sporting events, one of which was the Nationwide 300 series Nascar Race. Kristen has made guest appearances on; Fox and Friends, CNN, Access Hollywood, Extra, Good Morning America, The Today Show, Inside Edition, and The View to name a few.
For 23-year-old Kristen Dalton, winning the title of Miss USA® wasn't just a dream, it was destiny. From the age of three, she believed that one day she would wear the coveted Miss USA® crown and sash. On April 19, 2009, in Las Vegas, Nev., as a worldwide television audience watched, Kristen was crowned as Miss USA 2009.
"I've always been a stringent believer in the power of having a positive attitude," says Kristen. "I believe that your attitude determines your altitude." There's no telling how high her achievements will be with her ambition and positivity.
Kristen attended East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C., where she represented her school as class president for two years and served as the vice president of the National Leadership Honor Society and The Psychology Honors Society. She ranked in the top 7% of her graduating class and was on Dean's List her entire college career. The North Carolina native majored in psychology, with a minor in Spanish. She was recognized for her academic excellence in psychology when she was awarded the Undergraduate Psychology scholarship which funded her college tuition. If her numerous honors and leadership roles in college weren't enough, Kristen also spent time traveling throughout Spain, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti studying and volunteering.
As Miss USA, Kristen was a spokeswoman, raising millions of dollars, for the official causes of the organization, which include breast and ovarian cancer education, research and legislation - a platform that is close to her heart. She enjoys traveling nationwide as an advocate for organizations such as the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, the National Breast Cancer Coalition, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Children's International, The USO, Service Nation and Gilda's Club, among others.
Now that Kristen's tenure has come to a close, she aspires to pursue a career in on-air hosting, commercial work, motivational speaking, modeling and image and pageant consulting. As philanthropy and inspiring young women is important to her, she hopes to one day be a Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations and continue traveling the world to help educate children in poverty stricken areas.
